Most of us have grown accustomed to the ability our devices have given us to provide feedback and help achieve better results on our land-based activities.
Unfortunately, water-based activities have lagged in this ability to track and record results.
This all changes with the Swimmo watch as it is built from the ground up as a water-based watch to give you actionable information on your swimming and to help you improve everything and become better in terms of lap times to pace management.
Here’s a rundown of what we’ll provide in this Swimmo Training Watch review:
- First we’ll share the features and benefits that you’ll find useful
- Next, we’ll take a look at the drawbacks you might need to know about
- Then, we’ll tell you a bit about the Swimmo company

Features and Benefits of the Swimmo Training Watch:

Special Features (Pros) of the Swimmo Training Watch
There are many benefits to adding a Swimmo training watch to your workouts, below we outline our keys to why the watch is a perfect investment in you and your health.
Able to Track HR without Strap
Many will say that having a chest strap is the only way for a heart rate to be even somewhat correct but most have reported that they were pleasantly surprised with the wrist-based results which may be tied to the pool water helping to maintain better attachment.
Workout Notifications
You never need to focus on where you are in your workout as the watch actually will vibrate at 25%, 50%, and 75% of the way to your goal.
This allows you to maintain focus on swimming and not stopping to gauge where you are at and become distracted.
Ability to Manage Personal Goals
The Swimmo watch will help you focus on your specific goal with ease due to the many things tracked you can find your chosen goal and watch your performance increase or decrease within that specific metric.
Detailed Information on Workouts
From timing to lap count and so much more the information contained within the watch is very helpful for people who are really looking to improve their swim performance, not only in speed or laps but in splits, etc.
Drawbacks (Cons) for the Swimmo Training Watch
As with all gear there are some considerations which should be discussed if you are interested in a smart watch, especially one specifically built for swimming that can be serious for some buyers.
OLED Screen
The drawback with an OLED screen is that in bright sun it can be very hard to read, these screens are what make this device 50% of the cost of a similar Apple watch that is only water resistant.
I would suggest moving the watch to your shadow if you really need to view under intense lighting.
Watch Needs App to Be Configured
The watch has no buttons to ensure it stays waterproof and this means all changes to settings needs to be done on the phone app which is then pushed to the watch.
There is no way to make changes directly on the watch itself.
No History Access on the Watch
Your swim histories are transferred and available from the phone only, for some people this is a sticking point and causes irritation as they cant check histories in the pool.

Swimmo Training Watch Reviews
Looking at the features and benefits is great, but taking a look at what real-and-actual customers have to say about a product offers a deeper dive.
Here we’ve curated reviews that reflect the Swimmo Training Watch, providing feedback from product users and reviewers on independent review sites and online from the customers.
Independent Reviews and Recommendations for the Swimmo Watch
I believe Swimmo is the perfect solution for the any swimmers that want to visualize and keep track of their achievements (smartwatches are not suitable for tracking swimming regularly). From a price point perspective, I believe it’s perfectly affordable if we compare it to a swim watch from Garmin, to probably get the same features. Now Garmin clearly it’s the watch for those who are more competitive and triathletes. But if you are like me, not competitive and want a swim companion, this is the perfect gadget to have. I am looking forward to see the new features that will come up, and I hope my Swimmo will last long enough (I received mine on 30th August 2019) to support my mission to achieve my ideal weight of 72 kg.

Swimmo App and watch can assist swimmers to be better swimmers, but only if the swimmers are looking to improve their skills.
For me, my focus is to achieve distance, either 1500m or 2500m per swim. In addition, I’m also looking to work on my speed. Therefore Pace Tracking is useful and can help to keep me in check and making sure that I finish my swim in a certain amount of time.
It can also be used to track how may laps when swimming in swimming pool regardless of the length of the pool.

What Online Customers Have to Say About the Swimmo Watch
After owning a Swimmo training watch over 4 years I have enjoyed many hours of good fun which allowed me to record my improvement levels over a period of time.
The watch was brilliant at encouraging me to monitor my progress. Whilst I have had a few issues the help and support from swimmo has been superb. Unfortunately my watch was stolen in burglary on holiday in February 2020.
I wrote to swimmo asking if they could disconnect from there server so stopping anyone else using the watch. They very kindly not only replied but also offered me a replacement with considerable discount.
Now at 70 years of age and having open heart surgury recently I feel that my competitive swimming days are over. THANKS Swimmo for providing the incentive to keep swimming up over the last 4 years. BRILLIANT product with EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ADVICE. Well keep up the good work. Best wishes.
I’m what you called weekend warrior. Usually after workouts, I feel tired, exhausted and satisfied knowing that I already burn a good amount of calories. BUT Swimmo give me a hard slap in the face!
Swimmo brutally shows how little calories I burned after a 30 minutes (as I remember) swim. Not only Swimmo shows accurately how long I swim, stroke/m and stroke cycle but Swimmo show i only swim for 10 minutes instead of 30 minutes. Looks like I need to work harder next time.
It’s always hard to work out the positive Vs. negative reviews but I can assure you that this is my view that is genuine and not fake.
For me the watch has reinvented my swimming and my endurance has surpassed my expectations. Setting and reaching my watch goals is both rewarding and motivational and at the end of the day this is the most important aspect of my swimming training.
I’m sure other watches do different, and some may say improved functions yet for me my Swimmo watch has delivered exactly the functions and results that I was looking for!
This thing is freaky good! My favorite aspect of this is definitely the rep counter; I tried it out the first night I got it and both my husband and I couldn’t believe how accurate it is! The design is just great. It looks fashionable worn on both the wrist and the ankle and it is easy to get on/off, but secure enough that it won’t just fall off.
I’ve seen some other reviews about losing the sensor but from my experience, I really have no idea how that would happen. It’s in there very securely! The device is light-weight and comfortable as well. The personal coach aspect of the app is SO helpful.
I use this most for running. I am not a trained runner, so having those personalized tips on how to improve my running is really helpful. It definitely helps keep me on track! Some fitness apps can be confusing but the Swimmo app is extremely user friendly and easy to navigate.
I really like the sleep data it provides. It shows sleep time as well as restorative vs light sleep. I sometimes struggle to get a good night’s sleep so having something that will show me how my sleep changes with different variables is very helpful to me. I’ve only had this for just over a week, but it has already helped me lose a little weight as well as deepen my sleep. I’m definitely a fan of Swimmo!
